He is giving a great report on how they are taking matters into their own hands as a state and getting things done.

California governor Gavin Newsom hosts a press conference at the bloom energy ventilator refurbishing site in Sunnyvale, CA.

3/28/20

Older ventilators are being located, gathered, and refurbished at a Bloom Energy facility that has been converted from an old storage site, to a clean refurbishing station.

Currently 514 old ventilators from department of public health, 170 from Strategic National Stockpile,  have been located and are now in the process of being completely refurbished and re-distributed across California.  4,252 others have been identified and they will be working on those soon.  10,000 is the goal.

This could be a model for other states to follow.  Bloom Energy also has a new facility in Delaware immulating this process.

As of 3/28/20… 100 deaths.  Across California 4,000 waiting to see results of being tested for COVID-19.

Governor Newsom is encouraging others across California to follow suit in the spirit of “take responsibility, take ownership”.  Don’t complain about what you don’t have, work with what you’ve got.

This action has sparked 350 manufacturers to follow suit in the same approach.

The GAP and St. Johns is following suit by converting old gowns and masks.

Anheuser Busch and Dry Digging Distillery and many other similar companies are helping produce hand sanitizer and shipping them to food banks.

7-11 is donating 1 million masks

A 3-D printing company is 3D printing swabs for covid-19 testing

No more important issue though than meeting the needs of the ventilators.

Dr. Joseph Woo at Stanford University is working on what is called Ventilators 2.0, the idea of how to use one ventilator for multiple patients.

If anyone has old ventilators in their basement or garage they are not using, Governor Newsom invites them to send the ventilator to this refurbishing center.

Need is high, ICU patients is up 105% across California overnight.  Those hospitalized hello hello for symptoms of coronavirus rose overnight in California from 736 to 1034.  the governor does not like the increase in numbers, but is very thankful that relatively those numbers are lower than other parts of the country like New York.  The USNS Mercy (US Naval hospital ship) has been sent to California to open 2,000 new beds to prepare.

The governor also said our future will not be experienced, it will be manifested. Everything we decide to do as members of society will determine where we go in the next few weeks. It's important for everyone to understand when they ask, “what can I do”… he said you could do your part by not spreading the disease.  Physical distancing is the #1 thing everyone needs to do. California “stay at home” orders are real for a reason.

Go under side a statewide executive order that no evictions may be enforced through may 31st 2020, in response to helping residence during this time.

Governor worked with the FDA two lessen restrictions on equipment.  specifically over 1,000,000 masks were found in cold storage to be in good working order, add through the governors work with the FDA, these masks were approved to be distributed more immediate usage.  31.7 million masks have been distributed through California.
