(need to go back and note the first 53 minutes)

@53 minutes into video

COVID free area - all have been tested - very strict protocol to keep it that way

MERCY SHIP

will have 20k ICU beds through the May 20th modeling

Q:

A: Encouraging businesses to do the right thing

Shut down 98 park facilities - all along the coast to reduce the surge of individuals not practicing safe physical distancing last weekend (he said last year?)

Each city has different operations and strategies to enforce and notify citizens - LA leading on that

NEW SPEAKER

making sure that is the law and that is enforced

  1. compliance -
  2. self-enforcement - neighborhood level
  3. city employees - including officers to get adherence in a voluntary way ie. restaurant trying to stay open - police visit shut it down
  4. more enforcement - they are prepared - to shut off power, or price gouging - $80 hand sanitizer vs $7

99.9% can be done without a criminal penalty but prepared bc 1 person can be a super spreader, kill someone, or kill themselves

500 National Guard in CA only doing humanitarian missions - primarily food - food banks - state park patrol - in force this weekend with fliers - not citation at first - but will tier enforcement as necessary

Q:

A: strategically planning how best to utilize resources - providing assets to local government; have not needed an incident management team but have in the wings

preparing for a wild-fire season - those teams are actively working on an integrated approach to deal with COVID-19 and protect the public from wild-fires; will engage them more as we need them

Q:

A: Time for partnership - open hand not clenched fist. He is our President. Every request I have asked - he has been responsive.

8k units

Mercy example of that collaboration and spirit

wild-fires - 2-way conversation and engagement

we will rise above the politics

grateful for his leadership for the state of CA

will keep monitoring that and encouraging us to do more and see more in the future

Q:

A: Total # 3801

don't have # of how many who don't have residences; homelessness

already procured 4666 hotel units to distribute throughout the state of CA for priority at the county level for homeless

LA - they are prepared to take 637 trailers - bc Bob Fenton and Mark D.

prepping those sites to meet that demand

distributed 100 million in emergency aid bc Tony Adkins (senate) for emergency grants for homeless individuals - particularly seniors and encampments

a lot of work in that space

certain parts of state seeing more than in other parts

has a full-time team prioritizing the needs of our homeless

Q:

A: still making a determination how much

1.7 billion of stimulus for high education

6.9 billion local

8.3 directly block grants to state

3.75 billion transit

320+ million for homeless programs

put out new State Budget Guidelines 48 hours ago -looking at every expense in the state - reassessing in real-time -not waiting - going to be here for the long haul

No - it's not enough - we are going to need more going forward

Q:

A: No- # of personnel on those sites is small fraction of personnel

100+million masks they have

not worried for today - looking at for future

1 billion for gloves

nor would take the masks and PPE who are doing the testing - critical role

8k tests done through LA drive-thru - 1/10 of states overall tests

not 1 single confirmed person unhoused with covid19

People saying: we don't want "those people" near us.

Be clear -it's the housed people who are more a threat to the non-housed. So break those barriers down and help all people.

Grocers asking for more PPE,

police officers on the front line

coverall shields - not just N95

soon as it comes in - getting it right out
